Newt Gingrich

February 3, 2010

It’s not often that I quote the liberal Center for American Progress, but they’ve come up with a term for the Washington liberals posing as budget cutters that is perfect: Deficit peacocks.

As opposed to deficit hawks who are the real fiscal conservatives, deficit peacocks strut around pretending to cut spending through gimmicks like spending freezes that are “freezes” only in the sense that they “freeze” into place previous frenzied spending binges (check out this clever video to see the “freeze” in action).

By pretending to be budget cutters, deficit peacocks engage in an old liberal trick. They promise future spending cuts while approving massive current spending. Then, later, they demand tax increases to pay for all that spending.

Today, deficit peacocks are strutting all over Washington. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and President Obama could all cut spending if they wanted to, they just don’t want to.

They’d rather pretend and try to fool the American people. They say, “Wait for the spending cuts.”
I say, “Watch your wallet America.” Read More…

LAS VEGAS – President Barack Obama is known for having a way with words, but some lawmakers from Nevada wish he would pipe down about trips to Sin City.

After sparking a firestorm of criticism from Nevada’s elected officials for suggesting that people saving money for college shouldn’t blow it in Las Vegas, Obama told U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in a letter that he wasn’t saying anything negative about Las Vegas.

It was the second time since taking office that Obama singled out Las Vegas as a potential example of spending excessively. Read More…

Obama budget would impose host of tax increases

By Bob L. The way I see it.View Image
This all sounds like a Trojan horse to me full of pay back taxes like a lot of his stimulus programs which is an other name for a Government loan, and in Obama’s eye, it is an income which you have to claim on your taxes at the end of the year.

WASHINGTON – While President Barack Obama is proposing to cut some taxes for companies that hire workers, his budget would raise a host of other taxes on businesses and wealthy individuals.

Obama’s budget would extend his signature Making Work Pay tax credit — $400 for individuals, $800 for a couple filing jointly — through 2011. The administration released the budget Monday.

But it would also impose nearly $1 trillion in higher taxes on couples making more than $250,000 and individuals making more than $200,000 by not renewing Bush-era tax cuts for them. Obama would extend tax cuts enacted under former President George W. Bush for families and individuals making less. Read More…

Speaking from the floor House of Delegates at the Virginia state capitol building in front of over 300 people, newly-inaugurated Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell delivered the Republican response to the President’s State of the Union Address last night. McDonnell was sworn in just 11 days ago after having received more votes for governor in his election last fall than any other gubernatorial candidate in Virginia history.

McDonnell stepped onto the national stage last night with great ease, articulating the conservative ideals and the common sense that Americans are eager to embrace after a long year of an unprecedented spending binge.

“Today, the federal government is simply trying to do too much,” McDonnell said in the speech. “Last year, we were told that massive new federal spending would create more jobs ‘immediately’ and hold unemployment below eight percent.” Read More…

Can’t We At Least Get a Toaster?

In the wake of the Massachusetts Miracle last week (“The other Boston Massacre”), President Obama adopted a populist mantle, claiming he was going to “fight” Wall Street. It was either that or win another Nobel Peace Prize.

Now the only question is which Goldman Sachs crony he’ll put in charge of this task.

If Obama plans to hold Wall Street accountable for its own bad decisions, it will be a first for the Democrats.

For the past two decades, Democrats have specialized in insulating financial giants from the consequences of their own high-risk bets. Citigroup and Goldman Sachs alone have been rescued from their risky bets by unwitting taxpayers four times in the last 15 years. Read More…

President Barack Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will be all smiles as the president arrives at the Capitol for his State of the Union speech Wednesday night, but the happy faces can’t hide relationships that are fraying and fraught.

The anger is most palpable in the House, where Pelosi and her allies believe Obama’s reluctance to stake his political capital on health care reform in mid-2009 contributed to the near collapse of negotiations now.

But sources say there are also signs of strain between Reid and White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, and relations between Democrats in the House and Democrats in the Senate are hovering between thinly veiled disdain and outright hostility.

In a display of contempt unfathomable in the feel-good days after Obama’s Inauguration, freshman Rep. Dina Titus (D-Nev.) stood up at a meeting with Pelosi last week to declare: “Reid is done; he’s going to lose” in November, according to three people who were in the room. Read More…

By Bob L.    How I see what is happening in this Country.

This should have been the TOP priority over any thing else, but no Obamacare, Climate change, and what ever else was more important then getting people back to work, that shows just how much he cares about the United States, his priority’s are for any other Country then here.

As far as believing, I don’t believe one thing that he is doing or trying to do, it is just a cover up like every thing else he does.

Until I see Companies come back to this Country then maybe, but until they bring taxes down to bring them back, it will never happen, look at states that lower their taxes, Companies move in, and why are taxes so high, I don’t know, or is it so much is spent on special interest programs that is to keep them happy.

It is just like schools, the three R s and training for jobs should be top priority, but they spend a lot of money on bowling, archery, you get the idea, other thing are more important, it should be if you want those programs then you pay for it your self, don’t make the taxpayer pay for it.

His goal: Get the economy, the confidence of voters and his own presidency on surer footing.

Geithner, in prepared testimony for a much-anticipated congressional hearing on Wednesday, said protracted demands for concessions from banks in late 2008 could have triggered devastating credit rating downgrades and brought AIG down, with “catastrophic” consequences for the U.S. economy.

Taxing Times Are Here Again

By Neil Cavuto

By You know what startles me about talking taxes in Washington? So few are — at least there.

Not a single prominent Democrat rejected Senator Kent Conrad’s idea of a value-added tax — on top of an income tax, on top of an even higher top income tax, on top of an *even higher top income tax*, on top of *that* tax.

No one made a big deal of that. I guess because no one’s really surprised by that. After all, when you’re spending like crazy, it only makes sense you try to keep up, “taxing” like crazy. Even though I guess I’m crazy for reporting it. Read More…

BLAINE, Wash. – New rules requiring passports or new high-tech documents to cross the United States’ northern and southern borders are taking effect Monday, as some rue the tightening of security and others hail it as long overdue.

Obama’s plan to save GM, $30 billion

By Bob L

Obama’s speech that shafts many

Obama made a good speech about how this bankruptcy is a good thing for America, but has any one thought about the loss of credit that is being lost due to loss of foreclosures and jobs. American people just can’t go out and print money when they need it like the government does, if we did we would go to prison, they keep telling us we are spending money we don’t have.

He also said that they were going to buy their cars, now what is that going to do for FORD who did not take any money, some one said that now that the Government would buy cars for their fleet cheaper then ford could bid on, and now that is what is happening, so now that Obama want’s to punish ford, boycott G M, and CHRYSLER, and tell Obama that he has to buy from all three, or none at all.

Where does he think that people today can afford the price of today’s cars now or later.

All I can see is that banks and finance companies are going to profit due to credit reports from the economy of today, and the peoples loss.

All I can see is the same thing that they are all lies,he has not been truthful to the American from day one,for he has flip flopped and can not tell the truth if his life depended on it. He is fallowing in the same steps as Bush, and only helping the rich and him self and family. Read More…

Key health care senators have industry ties

By LARRY MARGASAK and SHARON THEIMER, Associated Press Writers

WASHINGTON – Influential senators working to overhaul the nation’s health care system have investments and family ties with some of the biggest names in the industry. The wife of Sen. Chris Dodd, the lawmaker in charge of writing the Senate’s bill, sits on the boards of four health care companies.

Members of both parties have industry connections, including Democrats Jay Rockefeller and Tom Harkin, in addition to Dodd, and Republicans Tom Coburn, Judd Gregg, John Kyl and Orrin Hatch, financial reports showed Friday. .

Jackie Clegg Dodd, wife of the Connecticut Democrat, is on the boards of Javelin Pharmaceuticals Inc., Cardiome Pharma Corp., Brookdale Senior Living and Pear Tree Pharmaceuticals.

Dodd is filling in for ailing Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, which will soon start work on a health care bill.

Other publicly available documents show Mrs. Dodd last year was one of the most highly compensated non-employee members of the Javelin Pharmaceuticals Inc. board, on which she has served since 2004. President Obama tells the American Medical Association in Chicago that the existing system leaves too many Americans uninsured and forces “excessive defensive medicine” by doctors worried about malpractice lawsuits.

CHICAGO — President Barack Obama pushed hard Monday for a health care overhaul, saying the system is “a ticking bomb” for the budget that could force America to “go the way of GM” without a legislative fix.

Obama went before the American Medical Association in Chicago to declare anew that the existing system leaves too many uninsured and forces “excessive defensive medicine” by doctors worried about malpractice suits. He also declared once again that he does not favor socialized medicine and cautioned people to beware of “scare tactics and fear-mongering” by critics who make this claim.

Obama did tell his audience of physicians and health care professionals that he’s “open” to requiring all Americans to have health insurance, while stressing that the plan would permit continuing assistance for those who cannot afford it on their own. Read More…

Fire Ants Almost Kill 13-Year-Old Boy

AP

CENTRAL, La. —  Fire ants are the scourge of the Louisiana lawn, but their venomous stings can be as dangerous as those from bees, ants or wasps. Patrick Dodson, 13, and his mother, Donna Dodson, learned that one Sunday afternoon in March while doing yard work at their Central home.

Patrick Dodson fetched a bag of mulch made from a tree blown down by Hurricane Gustav in September. It tore open as he headed to the flower beds, and his leg was covered in hundreds of ants.

“Once I noticed them, I kind of freaked out, and that’s when they started biting me,” he said. “It didn’t really hurt until 10 minutes afterward.”

Most people call them bites, and fire ants often do anchor themselves with a bite — but it’s the sting that hurts. And, unlike bees or wasps, each ant can sting many times.

Patrick’s mother washed the ants off his leg, applied an antihistamine cream and sent her mother, Alice Reine, to the store for a liquid antihistamine. Read More…

15 D.C. power couples

POLITICO:  Kenneth P. Vogel

There’s only one first couple, but Barack and Michelle Obama are hardly the only powerful pair in Washington.

The new administration is staffed by an especially large contingent of power couples.

Here are 15 of them:

Shere Abbott and James Steinberg

These connected Beltway insiders ironically spent most of former President George W. Bush’s second term in his home state of Texas, where Steinberg was dean of the public affairs school at the University of Texas and Abbott directed the university’s sustainability program.

But Steinberg, 56, who was a national security adviser in the Clinton administration, kept in the game, advising the Obama campaign and transition on foreign policy issues. In December, he was nominated to be the No. 2 official at the State Department.

Abbott, 53, was tapped in March to handle environmental and energy policy in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

They married in 1994 and have two young daughters they adopted from China.

Ohioans ticketed for parking in own driveways

Here is corruption from the word go, when a person gets a ticket for parking in his own driveway, just because it is  an unpaved surface, this is how dumb these people are educated today, see this is why we are having a water problem, there is to much concrete and asphalt so water can’t soak in to the ground, this is why the water table is disappearing.

TOLEDO, Ohio – Residents of Toledo, Ohio, are complaining that they received $25 tickets for parking their vehicles in their own driveways.

Mayor Carty Finkbeiner (FINK’-by-ner) says he stands by the citations handed out last week by the Division of Streets, Bridges and Harbor. He says the tickets were issued under a city law against parking on unpaved surfaces, including gravel driveways.

During a news conference Monday, Finkbeiner ignored a reporter’s question of whether the crackdown and fines were related to the city’s budget crisis.

The three-term mayor faces a recall vote in November. Critics have claimed he’s wasted city money.

City Councilman D. Michael Collins calls the ticketing “Mickey Mouse nonsense.” He has told residents he’ll try to have the citations rescinded.

Health care for all will take years

AP

WASHINGTON – HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius says covering the uninsured will take several years, even if Congress passes a bill and President Barack Obama signs it into law this fall.

Sebelius said in a question-and-answer session with The Associated Press Tuesday that “it won’t start the day after the bill passes.”

Nearly 50 million Americans are uninsured, and early cost estimates of congressional coverage plans have been disappointing. The $1 trillion over 10 years that the Obama administration wants to spend may not be enough.

Sebelius said the first step would be to cover people who are eligible for existing government programs. She said after that, it could take until 2011 or 2012 to set up insurance purchasing pools and start covering the rest.

Here we go at this rate it wont be long before the Constitution will be history, see if main street news tells you the whole story.

California Congressman Dennis Cardoza says, “They don’t get rural America. They form their views of the world in large cities.”

SEAN HANNITY, HOST: Now tonight we bring you a special first segment of the show in lieu of our usual “Hannity Headline.”

In 1765 parliament passed the Stamp Pact provoking outrage among the American colonists. Now the leaders of the tax uprising were the Sons of Liberty who met in August of 1765 under an old elm tree in Boston to air their grievances against the tyrannical King George.

The Sons of Liberty will become an early voice for the rights of an oppressed citizenry and included some familiar names from the annals of American history including Paul Revere, Patrick Henry, John Hancock and John Adams.

At the end of that first protest in 1765 the Sons of Liberty hung two tax collectors in effigy from the branches of elm and from that day forward it became known as the Liberty Tree.

FRIDAY, June 19 (HealthDay News) — The smoke from cannabis, the plant from which marijuana is derived, contains compounds that can damage DNA and increase the risk of cancer just like tobacco smoke, says a new study from the United Kingdom.

In laboratory tests, Rajinder Singh from the University of Leicester and colleagues found certain carcinogens in cannabis smoke in amounts 50 percent greater than those found in tobacco smoke. They noted that light cannabis use could possibly prove to be even more damaging because cannabis smokers usually inhale more deeply than cigarette smokers.

“The smoking of three to four cannabis cigarettes a day is associated with the same degree of damage to bronchial mucus membranes as 20 or more tobacco cigarettes a day,” the researchers noted in a news release from the university.

The research was based on tests using a new highly sensitive liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method to analyze the cannabis smoke. It looked specifically at acetaldehyde — a suspected cancer-causing chemical known to affect human DNA that is found in both kinds of smoke.

“These results provide evidence for the DNA-damaging potential of cannabis smoke, implying that the consumption of cannabis cigarettes may be detrimental to human health with the possibility to initiate cancer development,” the researchers concluded in their report, published in the June 15 issue of Chemical Research in Toxicology.

If this stands to what is going to happen when OBAMA closes Guantanamo Bay, then we can blame MR OBAMA , And every one who started this drive to release all information, and should be held accountable for their actions, and that is prosecution as TREASON against the United States, and the Constitution.

The fate of three of nine foreigners abducted in Yemen last week is known — their bodies were found, shot execution style. The whereabouts of the other six — including three children under the age of 6 — remain a mystery.

But terrorism experts say their abductors and killers are almost certainly not a mystery. They say the crimes bear the mark of Al Qaeda, and they fear they are the handiwork of the international terror organization’s No. 2 man in the Arabian Peninsula: Said Ali al-Shihri, an Islamic extremist who once was in American custody — but who was released from the U.S. detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Democrats in the House of Representatives released an initial draft of their own health-care reform bill on Friday, saying that their proposal would lower costs, broaden choice, provide stability and boost quality in the system.

The 852-page bill contained many specifics, but left large areas of policy, taxes and spending still unspecified. A final budget tally wasn’t given, since it hadn’t been “scored” by the Congressional Budget Office.

Key points of the bill included a health-insurance exchange, which would be a place where individuals could comparison-shop for coverage; a public health-insurance option; and guaranteed coverage. Read More…

Three More Banks Fail; 40 Closures So Far This Year

Three banks were closed on Friday — one in Georgia, one in North Carolina and one in Kansas — bringing the total to 40 bank failures in the U.S. so far in 2009.

Southern Community Bank of Fayetteville, Ga., was closed down, and all its deposits will be assumed by United Community Bank of Blairsville, Ga. All five offices of SCB will become branches of UCB, and depositors of SCB will automatically become depositors at UCB.

As of May 29, SCB had total assets of $377 million and total deposits of $307 million.

United Community Bank paid a premium of 1% to acquire all of the deposits of the failed bank, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. said. Read More…

It seams that our Government just loves to take every thing away from the kids and then wonder why they are getting into trouble. Well lets see, they took away their summer jobs, they closed down all monitored places that kids could go, so what do you think kids will do.

Pets Pass Superbug to Humans

Posted: 21 June 2009:  By LiveScience Staff

Transmission of an infectious superbug from dogs and cats to humans, and back again, is an increasing problem, a new study finds.

The superbug, a strain of bacteria known as MRSA, has evolved a resistance to antibiotics. It has long plagued hospitals but in recent years has become more common in homes. MRSA has even invaded beaches.

Only about two years ago, scientists began to seriously suspect pets were transmitting the bacteria.

In the July edition of The Lancet Infectious Diseases, Richard Oehler of the University of South Florida College of Medicine and colleagues lay out the latest thinking on MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and pets.

The infections can be transmitted by animal bites and most threaten young children, the researchers note. Read More…

Do you agree???

By Bob L  What I have seen this happening for 58 years, I am now 65.

When you were growing up, do you remember when you could go out in the summer and get a job, working in a gas station, pick berries, or lets say, work on farms and in the fields, be a box person in a grocery store to earn money for school, and have spending money.

Can you remember why kids can no longer get a summer job, and now only illegals can have those jobs, because they can’t get the blacks any more as slaves so the illegals are now the slaves, or the kids and the family to make some extra money, or get vegetables and berries for canning. Today how many know how to can products for the winter, or fix a meal from scratch.

Well it was a special interest group that did not think it was safe for kids to work in the fields, (so the greedy Government stepped in) but yet it was alright if they were 16 and HAD a WORK PERMIT, (money, not getting taxes, gee Government greed again) then it was safe. Just because they did not pay income, they did pay sales tax, but the problem was they did not get a double tax, that is the problem today, TO MANY TAXES ON TAXES, to PAY TAXES. Read More…

ABC infomercial is a diversion!
It’s the way the Obama administration works — forget about how you get it done, just get it done. Since support is fading for Cap & Trade, as it’s essentially one of the biggest tax increases in history, the administration and the media are making a big deal (and rightfully so) out of the ABC infomercial happening 6/24. While you are enraged about that, Cap n Trade slips in through the back door, unnoticed and unharmed. Watch for Glenn to shine the spotlight on this issue for the rest of the week on radio and at 5pm on the Fox News Channel.

Common Sense Congressman
Freshman Congressman Jason Chaffetz from Utah is one of the few common sense people in the halls of Congress right now. One of the bills he’s proposing would save taxpayers millions, and it’s a great idea. Instead of hiring thousands of people to conduct the census, why not use another program that already has employees visiting houses each and every day — the United States Postal Service. A common sense idea that makes so much sense it will certainly be shot down by Congress. Listen to Glenn’s conversation with the Congressman. ( Transcript ). Read More…

David vs. Goliath of Governmental

by  Chuck Norris 06/23/2009

One of the most hideous ways the Internal Revenue Service usurps power and control over Americans is through its oppression over nonprofits, especially religious groups. Threatening to withdraw tax-exempt status and to levy penalties are just a couple of ways it exercises its tyranny.

For example, April 3, Catholic Answers, one of the nation’s largest lay-run apologetic (or defense) ministries for the Catholic movement, filed suit in federal court against the IRS for violating its right to free speech. What spurred on the lawsuit is that the IRS imposed fines on Catholic Answers because Catholic Answers’ president, Karl Keating, wrote in one of his “E-letters” that 2004 presidential candidate John Kerry shouldn’t be allowed to receive the Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion) because of his pro-abortion stance, advocacy and voting record. Whether you agree or not, Keating was voicing his conviction and opinion, which he has a First Amendment right to do. At no point did Catholic Answers even tell people for whom to vote or not to vote.  More to Read Read More…

Catastrophe

By Human Events

Every patriotic American needs to stand up now and take America back from President Obama, say Dick Morris and Eileen McGann — before he fully implements his frighteningly radical political agenda. That socialist agenda, they reveal, threatens our liberty, endangers our livelihood, and jeopardizes our very safety and security. They explain why in Catastrophe: How Obama, Congress, and the Special Interests are Transforming… A Downturn into a Crash, a Recession into a Depression, and a Disaster into a CATASTROPHE…And How to Stop Them.

Dick Morris has seen politics and Presidents up close for decades: he was Bill Clinton’s political consultant for twenty years, and is now a regular political commentator on Fox News and author of six New York Times bestsellers. In his latest blockbuster, Morris and his longtime collaborator Eileen McGann reveal the ugly hard-Left goals of the Obama administration and its henchmen in Congress and special interest groups. They fearlessly take on a barrage of hot-button pocketbook issues — from oil prices, real estate, and the faltering state of the economy to the ongoing corruption in Washington. Read More…

The gadget’s fall surprised Obama, who uses a teleprompter during most speeches and even brief remarks. The glass plate displaying his speech hit the floor in the auditorium of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, a massive building within the White House compound.

“Oh, goodness,” Obama said. “Sorry about that, guys.”

The audience — administration officials, mayors and urban policy experts — laughed as Obama went back to his text. To finish his 11-minute remarks calling for a new policy toward the nation’s cities and metropolitan areas, he used notes and the remaining teleprompter screen.

Barry O Here for Health Care

HUMAN EVENTS ;07/22/2009 – by Eric Novack

How many television hucksters rush you to buy something because the opportunity will not last? How many used car salesmen have told you that you that you need to ‘sign on the dotted line’ without fully reading the contract because the details are simply ‘boilerplate’? When was the last time some stock broker showed you the numbers for just the first few years of a loan repayment because ‘the investment will pay for itself’ despite a huge balloon payment coming up? Welcome to health care reform, President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid-style.

Speaking at a town hall event earlier this month, Obama said, “For those who say, ‘Well, you know what, this is something that is very complicated, so we shouldn’t rush into it,’ that’s what happens … Read More…

Virtual town halls gaining popularity

With the summer recess turning into a cross between election-year frenzy and an Ultimate Fighting Championship, the traditional town hall is looking less desirable by the day. The recent antics of “tea party” activists and “birthers” have provided incentives for members of Congress on both sides to seek a less vulnerable alternative to face-to-face communication. U.S. Bought Millions in Stolen Oil From Mexico

Criminals — mostly drug gangs — tap remote pipelines, sometimes building pipelines of their own, to siphon off hundreds of millions of dollars worth of oil each year, the Mexican oil monopoly said. At least one U.S. oil executive has pleaded guilty to conspiracy in such a deal.

Dirty Secret No. 1 in Obamacare

GOP backs away from end-of-life counseling

AP
By BEN EVANS, Associated Press Writer – Fri Aug 14

WASHINGTON – Until last week, Republican Sen. Johnny Isakson was among the most enthusiastic backers of end-of-life counseling in government health care programs like Medicare.

That was before conservatives called it a step toward euthanasia and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin likened the idea to a bureaucratic “death panel” that would decide whether sick people get to live. And even though those claims have been widely discredited, the issue remains a political weapon in the increasingly bitter health care debate.

Now, Isakson and other Republicans who eagerly backed the idea are distancing themselves from it or lying low in the face of a backlash from the right. Read More…

No ‘death panel’ in health care bill

AP
By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR, Associated Press Writer – Tue Aug 11

WASHINGTON – Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin says the health care overhaul bill would set up a “death panel.” Federal bureaucrats would play God, ruling on whether ailing seniors are worth enough to society to deserve life-sustaining medical care. Palin and other critics are wrong.

Nothing in the legislation would carry out such a bleak vision. The provision that has caused the uproar would instead authorize Medicare to pay doctors for counseling patients about end-of-life care, if the patient wishes. Here are some questions and answers on the controversy:

Q: Does the health care legislation bill promote “mercy killing,” or euthanasia?

A: No.

Q: Then what’s all the fuss about? Read More…

Move to Squash Freedom of Speech

You mite not like him, but it is an attack on free speech, plus they are afraid of him, and FOX, because there is a lot more truth coming from them and some on CNN, then any other news agency.

This is just another move of Obama, and the Democrats to stop freedom of speech, and the truth.

(Attack on Obama riles Beck’s advertisers NEW YORK – Glenn Beck returns to Fox News Channel on Monday after a vacation with fewer companies willing to advertise on his show than when he left, part of the fallout from calling President Barack Obama a racist.

A total of 33 Fox advertisers, including Wal-Mart Stores Inc., CVS Caremark, Clorox and Sprint, directed that their commercials not air on Beck’s show.)

Obama has pushed that race card all the way through his campaign, if you didn’t see it and see what he is trying to do, then this country is in very big trouble.

Why is it if a white person makes a comment about a black person, it is RACIST, but if a black person makes a RACIST remark about a white person it is funny and nothing is done about it.

I hope Mr. scrooge Obama is happy putting Americans in this position, while he buys his kids any thing they want, well Americans better get used to it because it is not going to get any better until we get jobs back in this country and people working.

NEW YORK – To gauge consumers’ strain, look no further than the rows and rows of plastic bags awaiting layaway payments at Kmart. They are filled with back-to-school basics — not just T-shirts and jeans but notebooks, magic markers and pencils.

It is unheard of for layaway rooms to be so packed at back-to-school time and for the packages to include relatively cheap school supplies.

4. Perry for Texas. Hutchison for Washington.

7. Democrats Begin Eating Their Own

8. Chris Carney (D-PA) Hints at Wanting Socialized Medicine In a Moment of Loosened Lips

———————————————————————-

1. On the 9/11 National Day of Service issue.

Background HERE – the short version is that the administration is in the process of rebranding 9/11 as a National Day of Service. I note that 9/12 makes a good deal more thematic sense, but then everything that you really need to know about the actual intent can be seen, as usual, by some of the players involved . . . Please click here for the rest of the post.

2. Can the Economy be Restored by Destroying Perfectly Good Cars? Obama Thinks So. Cash For Clunkers in Action

Thanks to the glories of YouTube, we can watch as the government mandates the destruction of perfectly good automobiles to “help the economy.” Here is a very nice 1990s Dodge Dakota 4X4 being destroyed. It is a much better vehicle than my pick up truck. Really, you ought to look at at least a couple of these videos, and the hundreds more like them on YouTube. Are these “clunkers?” Can it really help the economy to destroy perfectly good assets? Are the people running the government the most economically illiterate bunch since FDR ruled the roost? Or are they dumber? Please click here for the rest of the post.

3. Barack Obama’s Worst Nightmare

It was not until after 1994 that Bill Clinton really stretched his legs. As much as Clinton had “gays in the military” and “Hillarycare” in the months before the Republican take over of Congress, he’s really known for what? Well, if we’re serious about his legacy — Kosovo, Welfare Reform, Standing Up to Newt, and Impeachment. Clinton shines as a model of what a Democratic Presidency can be when fighting against Republicans at home and in multinational coalitions abroad. Impeachment has a mixed meaning for him, but among Democrats and Independents, they typically see it as out of control Republicans and a philandering President with the President coming out looking better than the GOP. Republicans controlling Congress gave Bill Clinton a political opposition from which he could set himself a part. Clinton could be contrasted with the GOP. He could not, pre-1994, viably do that because his party controlled the White House and Congress. What is Barack Obama’s worst nightmare? Democrats keeping Congress in 2010. Please click here for the rest of the post.

4. Perry for Texas. Hutchison for Washington.

In 2010, Texans either will lead the nation forward according to conservative principle and under conservative leadership, or they will put their trust and faith in the ways of Washington. In the last several weeks, current Texas Governor Rick Perry and U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison – each vying for the Texas Governorship in 2010 – have each made significant public statements that make their positions crystal clear. Perry is for Texas. Hutchison is for Washington. Please click here for the rest of the post.

5. Current DSCC national finance chair arrested for bank fraud.

Hassan Nemazee was more recently a heavy donor and bundler for both the Clinton and Obama Presidential campaigns, bringing in over half a million for the new President; he was also a major bundler for the Presidential Inaugural. “U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara in Manhattan and the Federal Bureau of Investigations say Hassan Nemazee, with residences in Manhattan and Katonah, N.Y., fraudulently applied for the loans for Nemazee Capital Corp., of which he is chairman and chief executive.” Please click here for the rest of the post.

6. Gray-beard Liberal compares Obama to Carter, while Sen. Feingold Predicts No Health Care Bill by Christmas

The degree of the political problem that President Obama’s “damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead,” approach to health care reform has caused the ruling party in Washington, D.C. is beginning to become clear from some comments made by cognoscenti of the Democratic Party. A gray-beard of the liberal establishment, Richard Cohen, wrote today in the Washington Post that the most apt comparison to President Obama is President Jimmy Carter. Ouch! Please click here for the rest of the post.

7. Democrats Begin Eating Their Own

It was only a matter of time before it started. The Democrats are beginning to turn on each other as their poll numbers sink and Republicans’ numbers start to rise. John Adler (D, NJ) says the healthcare legislation is bad for America. And he doesn’t care whether there’s a public option in it or not. But it’s not just Adler. Seriously endangered Democrat Parker Griffith of Alabama believes Nancy Pelosi is too divisive to be Speaker. . . . Please click here for the rest of the post.

8. Chris Carney (D-PA) Hints at Wanting Socialized Medicine In a Moment of Loosened Lips

Brian Faughnan noted the other day that up until this year Democrats have been pretty open that the “public option” was intended to be a back door into universal socialized healthcare. Barney Frank, too, has pretty strongly hinted at that. Up in Pennsylvania, Chris Carney, a liberal Democrat who tries his best to seem moderate, kind of sort of let slip in a town hall that, in fact, he favors the full socialization of the American healthcare system and views the public option as a back door to universal healthcare. Please click here for the rest of the post.

Is America Returning to a Pre-9/11 Mentality?

Chuck Norris

By Chuck Norris

09/15/2009

For better or worse, we have new Washington leadership and a new direction for America. It’s a softer and relational Washington, with whom international bonds are more important than national borders and boundaries. It’s a more secular Washington, which says that the country is no longer a “Christian nation.” It’s a more liberal Washington; it has enacted more left-leaning legislation in its first year than any previous administration. … Read More…

Liberal Lies About National Health Care

I’m trying to get to the next installment of my Pulitzer Prize-deserving series on liberal lies about national health care, but apparently liberals have decided to torture us by neurotically fixating on one lie.

John Rockefeller (D-W.V.) sponsored the “wrap-up amendment” that stealthily gutted important Republican amendments to the “conceptual draft” of a bill that were agreed to or voted through in committee.  This wrap-up amendment passed 13-10 on a straight party line vote, allowing Democrats to vote favorably on some high-profile issues, only to pull them back substantially under the cover of darkness in the wrap-up.Sen. Chuck Grassley, ranking Republican on the Finance Committee voiced strong concerns over this last-minute maneuvering to eviscerate protections for seniors, veterans and the shrinking number of folks who still have a job in the days of Obamanomics.

“These changes need to see the light of day,” Grassley said.  “Americans considering what this health care proposal means for them deserve to know that Medicare prescription drug premiums would probably go up, veterans’ access to health care would be diminished, and workers’ wages could be garnished in the midst of growing unemployment and a prolonged recession, in order to pay for other spending in the health reform bill.  The issues behind seniors being subjected to higher premiums in Medicare Part D also emphasize the reason why it’s important for senators to have actual cost estimates from the Congressional Budget Office before being asked to vote on major policy changes.”

The wrap-up amendment expands powers granted to a brand new Medicare Commission endowing these bureaucrats with the ability to raise premiums on Medicare prescription drug coverage at will.  Democrats had worked out a deal with hospitals in secret negotiations over the summer to exempt them from the extensive plans for cuts in Medicare rates.  This “carve out” would exempt hospitals from these reductions but the CBO estimated the provision would add $11 billion to the overall cost of the bill.  No problem for Dems, just rack up another $11 billion in stealth cuts to Medicare for an offset.

Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) offered an amendment that was agreed to in the committee markup without objection to shield veterans from increases in the cost of their medical care and reductions in access to treatment.  In the wrap-up amendment, Democrats voted to gut the veteran protections, without the customary consultation to the amendment’s author, reducing the amendment to mere instructions to the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs to conduct a study of the cost of veteran health care specifically including the cost of their medical devices and brand name medications.  More cost cutting measures at our veterans’ expense.

Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) sponsored an amendment to safeguard the work force from reductions in wages as a result of the bill’s staggering increase in taxes, fees and assessments on employers.  The committee voted unanimously to adopt Enzi’s amendment protecting employees and, again, the wrap-up amendment transformed the wording into a requirement for the Secretary of Labor to perform an inconsequential study on the issue.  It matters not what working families can afford.  Democrats need to pay for their socialist power grab.

The gutless Democrats in the Senate supported Medicare and veterans and wage protections in the very public amendment vote tallies, then stripped those very same protections in stealth.  The depth and breadth of the fraud and deception being perpetrated on the American people by this government takeover of health care is simply breathtaking.

Dems in Denial

To further their massive health care deception, House Democrats repeatedly claim in speech after speech after media appearance that Republicans have offered no solutions for the nation’s health care ills.  In speeches from the House floor all last week, Democrats pointedly and repetitively inquired about Republican solutions asking, “Where’s the bill?”

In response, Republican Study Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-Ga.) yesterday sent a “Dear Colleague” letter in email directly to all House Democrat Caucus members of Congress with an attachment directory linking all 40 pieces of heath care legislation introduced by Republicans in the House this year, including full, alternative, free market health care bills.

Dear Colleague,

In light of public assertions that House Republicans have offered no solutions for health care reform, please see this updated directory of more than 40 health care bills introduced by Republican Study Committee members this year.  Thanks for your consideration.

Yours Truly,

s/ Rep. Tom Price, M.D.
Chairman, Republican Study Committee

Short, sweet and to the point.  Now, when Democrats say Republicans have offered no health care solutions of their own, let there be no doubt they have all been given the information directly covering every piece of Republican health care legislation introduced this year in the 111th Congress.

Price also scored a meeting this week with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius .  The RSC will meet Sebelius Wednesday evening to discuss Obamacare.  Members of the RSC, and the organization as a whole, have been very vocal in opposition to Democrats’ proposed government takeover of health care.  And, despite very public offers by the President to meet with members and go over the massive House legislation “line by line,” the White House has ignored all overtures by Republican members to accept the President’s repeated offer.

Price received a call from the White House offering Sebelius as a stand-in to try to defend Obamacare.  Should be one raucous meeting.

If they want you out you mite just as well save your money and close your doors.

WASHINGTON – The cascade of bank failures this year surpassed 100 on Friday, the most in nearly two decades. And the trouble in the banking system from bad loans and the recession goes even deeper than the number suggests.

Dozens, perhaps hundreds, of other banks remain open even though they are as weak as many that have been shuttered. Regulators are seizing banks slowly and selectively — partly to avoid inciting panic and partly because buyers for bad banks are hard to find.

Going slow buys time. An economic recovery could save some banks that would otherwise go under. But if the recovery is slow and smaller banks’ finances get even worse, it could wind up costing even more.

The bank failures, 106 in all, are the most in any year since 181 collapsed in 1992, at the end of the savings-and-loan crisis. On Friday, regulators took over three small Florida banks — Partners Bank and Hillcrest Bank Florida, both of Naples, and Flagship National Bank in Bradenton — along with American United Bank of Lawrenceville, Ga., Bank of Elmwood in Racine, Wis., Riverview Community Bank in Otsego, Minn., and First Dupage Bank in Westmont, Ill.

When a bank fails, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. swoops in, usually on a Friday afternoon. It tries to sell off the bank’s assets to buyers and cover its liabilities, primarily customer deposits. It taps the insurance fund to cover the rest.

Bank failures have cost the FDIC’s fund that insures deposits an estimated $25 billion this year and are expected to cost $100 billion through 2013. To replenish the fund, the agency wants banks to pay in advance $45 billion in premiums that would have been due over the next three years.

The FDIC won’t say how deep a hole its deposit insurance fund is in. It can tap a credit line from the Treasury of up to a half-trillion dollars to cover the gap.

The list of banks in trouble is getting longer. At the end of June, the FDIC had flagged 416 as being at risk of failure, up from 305 at the end of March and 252 at the beginning of the year.

Yet the pace of actual bank failures appears to be slowing. The FDIC seized 24 banks in July, 11 in September and 11 in October.

If any bank poses an immediate danger to customers or the broader financial system, regulators close it immediately, bank supervisors said. The issue is murkier for troubled banks that might qualify to close but whose closings might still be postponed or even prevented.

The FDIC’s first priority, spokesman Andrew Gray said, is to maintain public confidence in the banking system. “As evidenced by the stability of insured deposits throughout last year, this mission has been a success,” he said.

He said public confidence isn’t reason enough to delay a bank closing, because legally the decision to close rests with whoever chartered the bank — a state or federal agency.

But more than a dozen experts, including current and former regulators, bankers and lawyers, say the FDIC’s mission to maintain public confidence in the banking system contributes to the go-slow approach.

“The FDIC was set up to create confidence and prevent bank runs,” says Mark Williams, a former bank examiner for the Federal Reserve. Being too aggressive about bank closings “can be counter to the mission.”

Sarah Bloom Raskin, Maryland’s top banking regulator, said: “Technically it’s the states who decide, but in reality it’s the FDIC calling you to say” when the bank will be closed.

Last fall, the financial turmoil was rooted in bad bets that the nation’s biggest banks, like Citigroup Inc. and Bank of America Corp., had made on complicated, high-risk mortgage investments.

Smaller banks have been undone by something more conventional — real estate, construction and industrial loans that have soured as the recession has deepened. Defaults are up as developers abandon failing projects and landlords can’t meet their loan payments.

Small- and mid-sized banks hold lots of those loans and have been hurt more than big ones by the sinking commercial real estate market, especially in states like California, Georgia and Illinois. As defaults rise, these banks must set aside more money to cover losses.

For the banks, this means mounting losses and shrinking reserves.

In a healthy economy, Williams said, the Fed and the FDIC would be inclined to close such weak banks. But these days, those agencies and other regulators prefer to hold off, hoping an economic recovery will eventually restore the health of some of the banks.

But the recovery is expected to be slow. Americans remain hesitant to spend money because of job losses, flat wages, tight credit and high debt. Their cutbacks have triggered tens of thousands of business failures.

Abandoned retail space in downtowns and suburban malls means no rental income for property owners. As landlords default on real estate loans, they weaken the banks that hold the loans.

The situation now is especially grave in Southern California, Georgia and Illinois, which have some of the highest home foreclosure rates. Twenty banks have closed in Georgia alone.

Individual bank depositors aren’t at risk when a bank fails. Their money is guaranteed up to $250,000 by the government. Ever conscious of maintaining public confidence, agency officials hammer this point in public statements.

When weak banks are allowed to stay open, their growing losses potentially can drain the FDIC’s deposit insurance fund faster, says Bert Ely, an independent banking consultant.

Federal agencies aren’t the only ones with an interest in slowing the pace of bank closings. State regulators with closer ties to local communities want to avoid the ripple effects when a town loses its main source of consumer and business credit, Williams said.

But finding buyers for wobbly banks has been tough.

FDIC Chairman Sheila Bair acknowledged as much in testimony this month before a Senate panel. The FDIC has been offering to share buyers’ losses on the assets being transferred, she said.

“In the past several months investor interest has been low,” she said in prepared testimony.

In an effort to find more potential buyers, the FDIC has relaxed the rules for private-equity firms to buy banks. In the past, regulators had feared such a move would allow investors to protect themselves from the cost of bank failures, escaping serious consequences while drawing down the FDIC’s fund.

An early success of the new strategy was a deal announced this month to sell assets from Corus Bank of Chicago to a group of private investors. But there still aren’t enough buyers to absorb quickly all the assets held by at-risk banks.

That’s because there are so many weak and failing banks on the market — and so few others strong enough to buy them. That’s one reason it’s hard to know how many more banks could be closed in coming months, said Daniel Alpert, Managing Partner of the New York investment bank Westwood Capital LLC.

“How many banks will survive?” Alpert asked. “Loans are still deteriorating, but there are glimmers of hope in the economy. Ultimately, it’s all about employment.”

WASHINGTON – Dozens of lawmakers have drawn scrutiny from their ethics monitor this year for everything from financial dealings to travel and campaign donations, according to a leaked account showing an active House panel secretly at work.Seven of the lawmakers — four not previously known — serve on a defense appropriations subcommittee that divvies up money for Pentagon contractors. Most of the names and investigative subjects, mentioned in a summary of the ethics committee’s work last July, were known. But the summary — obtained by The Washington Post — shows the widespread scope of preliminary reviews and investigations the panel can have before it at any one time. Read More…

Obama to lift HIV/AIDS travel ban

American-Eagle-and-Flag--C10055018 By Bob L : NEWS AS I SEE IT!

With lifting a ban on sick people coming here, will this not be open to putting more people on the free health plan for the sick who are not Citizens of the U.S., or is this a plan to brake the U.S. and to make it a one world Government.

When this Country was being formed, did they not send the sick back home, and not let them settle in this Country to keep them from spreading more sickness because they could not afford to take care of them.

One World Government Part 1

American-Eagle-and-Flag--C10055018 By Bob L : NEWS AS I SEE IT!

If you have been listening to Obama from the start, when he told Joe the Plumber that he wanted to spread the wealth, well that is brought up in this video about spreading the wealth, but not in the US but in a ONE WORLD Government.

And Obama can’t come up with any thing about climate change other then what Al Gore tells him, word for word, so that tells me that he does not know what he is talking about, unless some one tells him what to say, and an other point is that they can’t even get their stories straight (James Hansen says sea level will rise by 75 meters (that is around 246 feet), Al Gore sea level will rise 20 feet), now is this a profit scam or the truth, I say a scam on the world for profit. Meltdown 101: What to know if your bank fails

American-Eagle-and-Flag--C10055018 By Bob L : NEWS AS I SEE IT!

With all these bank failures, I can see why the Obama Administration and the big banks are taking over banking is by not loaning them the money that they were suppose to loan to these banks to keep them from going under, but they with held money so they would go under, isn’t that what the bailout was for to keep them from going under, or was it to line the pockets of their buddies?

NEW YORK – Dozens of banks have failed this year. What do you need to know if yours is next?

The number of bank failures has reached 115 since January — more than four times the total for 2008 and the most since the savings and loan crisis in 1992. Lets start with an Open letter to president Obama

In this world each nation should have their own Government, just think what will happen if Obama signs this pact in December, what do you think is going to happen, the world bank will have their way, they have been trying to do for it many years and now they are going to finally get their way, big corporations will have control of the farms and food distribution, they will say who will work, they will say who will get health care, but to show you what the Governments and the courts will do for you, check out this VIDEO on how the Government and the courts will not protect the farmers and what you are going to pay for food, IF they let you have it. Learn how Governments are saying who and how much food you will get.

Reuters :  Mon Nov 2

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Pensions for top U.S. executive rose by an average of 19 percent last year, and more than 200 officers saw their retirement savings surge by as much as 50 percent, even as their companies stock prices fell, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

Pensions rose as a result of generous formulas and some little-scrutinized techniques, such as changes in age or interest rates used in calculations, the paper said, citing an analysis of filings from 340 Standard & Poor’s 500 companies.

And with the public outraged over lavish pay and big bonuses, the Journal on its website said pensions rose even as stock prices dropped by an average of 37 percent last year. Yet supplemental executive retirement plans, or SERPs, are mostly overlooked.

The chief executive of Merck & Co (MRK.N) saw his pension benefit rise by nearly $10 million to $21.7 million last year. Certain incentive payments for ConocoPhillips (COP.N) CEO Jim Mulva boosted bis pension by $9.5 million to $68.2 million, the paper said.

The top executives at General Electric (GE.N) saw the amounts they were due from pensions rise by 13 percent to $140.7 million, the Journal said.

If Obama keeps adding people to the Government payroll, where is he coming up with all this money with so many unemployed and with no tax money coming in to pay for what is going out now, sure they need jobs to but how many unemployed need jobs too.

And there is another thing that Obama is so blind in, he is not a businessman, if he was he would know that to pay a wage you have to produce a product to sell, which the Government does not, their payroll comes in off the backs of the American worker, I guess that is why they go to collage to prove how stupid and lazy they are, because they can’t get a working mans job and keep it, this is probably why they are taking jobs away from the works, because it shows how lazy and stupid they are.

The current Medicare tax is 2.9 percent, paid half each by workers and employers. The proposal in the Senate bill raises this to 3.4 percent for workers making more than $200,000 a year ($250,000 for joint filers). Read More…

Health Care Double Speak

With Thanksgiving and Black Friday behind them, senators are set to begin a long December of double-speak. On Nov. 2,1 all 60 senators that caucus as Democrats voted to begin debate on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) version of Obamacare. Proponents claim it would cost “just” $849 billion, even though the real ten-year price tag is approximately $2.5 trillion. Read More…

Help Stop this EVIL law!

HUMAN EVENTS

Dear Fellow Conservative,

In July 2007, Barack Obama promised a group of his supporters that, if elected president, he would sign perhaps the most evil piece of legislation in the history of our republic.

It’s called the “Freedom of Choice Act,” or FOCA — but don’t let the Orwellian title fool you. It isn’t about “freedom” or “choice” at all. It’s about forcing each and every American citizen — regardless of his or her view on abortion — to support abortion-on-demand not just as a “fundamental right” but as a taxpayer-funded entitlement. Here is another situation Government spending money they do not have, and who gets stuck with the bill, you got it, the taxpayer, and just think you as an American taxpayer built this, is it nice to know where our Government spends our money.

Like overstretched American homeowners, governments and companies across the globe are groaning under the weight of debts that, some fear, might never be fully paid back.

As Dubai, that one-time wonderland in the desert, struggles to pay its bills, a troubling question hangs over the financial world: Is this latest financial crisis an isolated event, or a harbinger of still more debt shocks? Read More…

Obama Invites Heaping of Afghan Blame on Bush

by Ernest Istook
12/04/2009

Unwilling to criticize their leader and hero for sending more troops to Afghanistan, the American left has stepped-up its Bush-bashing. Many now blame George W. Bush for “forcing” Barack Obama into what they see as a bad decision.

Despite giving lip service to the need for unity, President Obama tossed several lines into his West Point speech that invited this finger-pointing at the former president. Read More…

WASHINGTON – An internal investigation of the community-organizing group ACORN concluded there was no criminal conduct by employees caught on videos offering advice on how to hide assets and falsify lending documents.

The report, which ACORN’s CEO described as “part vindication, part constructive criticism and complete roadmap for the future,” was unlikely to stem continuing political criticisms of the group and its efforts.

In a 47-page assessment that former Massachusetts Attorney General Scott Harshbarger was commissioned by the organization to do, he said ACORN leaders “appear committed to effect reform and are on their way to preserving ACORN and its mission in a reduced size and scope.” Read More…

WASHINGTON – In President Barack Obama’s hands, the $700 billion financial rescue fund offers a bit of bookkeeping magic: an opportunity to pay down the deficit while also spending more — thereby adding to it.

Under law, any paybacks to the bailout known as the Troubled Asset Relief Program must be used to reduce the deficit. But in an economic speech on Tuesday, the president sought to have it both ways. Increased repayments from banks to the Treasury will reduce the deficit all right, but it will give Congress the budgetary room to spend more — and the president encouraged just that.

“There are those who claim we have to choose between paying down our deficits on the one hand, and investing in job creation and economic growth on the other,” Obama said. “But this is a false choice.” Read More…

Chestnuts Roasting on a Copenhagen Fire

Chuck Norris By Chuck Norris
12/08/2009

Copenhagen is on fire this week, and there’s far more heating up than just the climate.

Heads of state and others are gathering this week at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, but bonfires already have been blazing for weeks on that European front.

Let me see whether I can summarize the chestnuts roasting on that Copenhagen fire.

Shocking e-mail exchanges from scientists at an eminent global warming research center in the United Kingdom have proved that key climate change scientists have suppressed evidence in order to “trick” the public or “hide the decline” of global temperatures. Read More…

Rich Nations Poor Nations

How much money do these so called poor nations receive each year from these rich Countries, and much of that money does not get to the people because the rich keep it for them selves, and that has been proven over the years. Look at all these Charities that collect  for these Poor Countries, and you know we have gone over and given them equipment and training to teach them how to farm, we send them food, but their GOVERNMENT and their WEALTHY keep it and only give out what they don’t want, a good example is Mexico look at the wealth of the money they get from OIL, but they pose as poor country.

2. A Bomb Goes Off in Florida

Last night in Washington, close to one hundred leaders of the conservative movement gathered in a townhouse just down from the United States Capitol to hear Senator Jim DeMint and Florida Speaker Marco Rubio at a Senate Conservatives Fund fundraiser for Marco Rubio. The people in the room for Rubio were the same people who blew up NY-23, helping Doug Hoffman and crushing the chances of a far left Republican, Dede Scozzafava. Just prior to the start of the fundraiser, a bomb went off in Florida. According to Rasmussen, the Florida Senate primary is now tied between Rubio and Crist. For perspective, only about six months ago, Rubio was in the single digits with Crist safely over 50%. Jim DeMint told the crowd that Rubio is one of a handful of “new Republicans” running to take back our country. And the new poll shows it is working. Please click here for the rest of the post. Obama’s Message: Be Afraid, Very Afraid

Oliver North By Oliver North
12/18/2009

Washington, D.C. — Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is TIME magazine’s “Person of the Year.” Twelve months ago the “honor” went to president-elect, Senator Barack Obama. Notably, the 1932 recipient was president-elect Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who asserted in his March 4, 1933, Inaugural Address, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

Roosevelt went on to describe the economic anxieties of millions left jobless in a deepening depression as “nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.” He then served notice that if the “national emergency” required it, he would “ask the Congress for the one remaining instrument to meet the crisis — broad Executive power to wage a war against the emergency, as great as the power that would be given to me if we were in fact invaded by a foreign foe.” Read More…

U.S. taxpayers are spending more than $40,000 per month on office space, staff, cell phones and a leased SUV for former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, even as he works as a lobbyist for private corporations and foreign governments.

The payments are perfectly legal under a federal law that provides five years of benefits for former speakers — but only if Hastert never makes use of his government-funded perks in the course of his lobbying work. Ethics experts say that sort of separation is hard to maintain. Read More…

OMAHA, Neb. – It was the concern of Nebraska’s Republican governor over expanded Medicaid costs in the proposed Senate health care overhaul bill that led to a compromise to cover his state’s estimated $45 million share over a decade, U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson said Sunday.

Gov. It was never about abortion. For Sen. Ben Nelson, a devout appropriator, it was all about the benjamins. In exchange for a “compromise” that forces federal taxpayers to fund abortion, the supposedly pro-life senator from Nebraska will receive a permanent earmark to pay for all future Medicaid increases in his state. Do You Know How Radical Kevin Jennings Is?

I’m wondering whether there’s anyone out there with the guts to pretend that it’s insignificant that President Barack Obama keeps appointing radical after radical to his czar positions. Can anyone honestly say Obama’s appointments don’t tell us a great deal about Obama himself — as if we needed any further proof he is a left-wing extremist?

I don’t need to make a list of his radical appointees and detail proof of their extremism. Anyone paying attention knows it’s irrefutably true that this has become a deliberate pattern. Statistically, Obama couldn’t accidentally appoint this many radicals in two political lifetimes. WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. authorities arrested and charged a woman in Hawaii last week for allegedly threatening to kill President Barack Obama’s wife, Michelle, days before the Obamas were due to arrive in the state for the Christmas holiday.

Kristy Lee Roshia was arrested on December 19 in Kaneohe, Hawaii, by the U.S. Secret Service after determining she had made the threat and had information about where the Obama family would be staying during their visit, according to court documents filed this week.

She was charged with making the threat against the first lady and assaulting a Secret Service agent after she was arrested.

A federal judge on Wednesday postponed a detention hearing for Roshia until a mental competency exam is conducted and she will remain in custody until then, according to court records.

The threat was originally made on November 10 during a telephone call to the Secret Service office in Boston and she also threatened to kill a Secret Service agent and Marines during the conversation, the documents said.

Agents determined that Roshia was living near a Marine Corps base in Hawaii based on correspondence she had sent to the Boston office that arrived the previous day.

During an interview with agents on December 19, Roshia said she had gone to Hawaii in September to “protect Obama,” had been to the location where the presidential family would be staying and was working at the golf course at the Marine base, a Secret Service affidavit said.

After Roshia was placed under arrest, she assaulted the Secret Service agent and claimed she would “blow away the whole Oval Office,” the affidavit said.

Roshia began contacting the Secret Service in 2004 and from 2007 made numerous angry calls to the Boston office, sometimes five to 10 times a day, the affidavit said.

The Obama family is expected to leave for Honolulu, Hawaii on Thursday morning after the U.S. Senate votes on his top legislative priority, overhauling the U.S. healthcare system.

Two Escapes delay Ohio-bound flight in Houston

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Passengers on a Continental Airlines flight couldn’t believe it when they saw an otter scurry from the plane’s cargo hold and onto the tarmac at Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport. The daring escape by a pair of otters delayed the Ohio-bound flight for about an hour Tuesday night.

One passenger said that most on board thought the delay was a joke at first. But another said they watched one of the otters scurry across the tarmac.

Airport workers managed to catch the otters and return them to their cages and the flight took off for Columbus.

So did Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., the longest-serving House member and a champion of universal health care his entire career, (is he going to take the insurance, no just like the rest of them they have free Cadillac plans.)

The Congressional Budget Office predicts the bill will reduce deficits by $130 billion over the next 10 years, an estimate that assumes lawmakers carry through on hundreds of billions of dollars in planned cuts to insurance companies and doctors, hospitals and others who treat Medicare patients.

“Not even Ebenezer Scrooge himself could devise a scheme as cruel and greedy as Democrats’ government takeover of health care,” the Ohio Republican said in a statement.

“Senator Reid’s health care bill increases premiums for families and small businesses, raises taxes during a recession, cuts seniors’ Medicare benefits, adds to our skyrocketing debt, and puts bureaucrats in charge of decisions that should be made by patients and doctors,” he said. “The bill also authorizes taxpayer-funded abortions, violating long-standing federal policy.
